Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) is a federation of autonomous environmental organizations from all over the world. Its members, in more than 70 countries, campaign on the most urgent environmental and social issues of our day, while simultaneously catalyzing a shift toward sustainable societies.
Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) unites more than 30 national organisations associating thousands of local groups and are a branch of the world's largest grassroots environmental network, Friends of the Earth International.
In 1997 the FoEI association found a member as well in Slovakia. This year Priatelia Zeme / Friends of the Earth Slovakia was accepted as a member of this federation and its regional association FoEE. Since then Priatelia Zeme has actively participated in coordinated activities, campaigns and programs of European and international importance.
Friends of the Earth Slovakia associates three organisations at present: Friends of the Earth-CEPA, Friends of the Earth-SPZ and WOLF Forest Protection Movement. Although each organisation has its own style of work and focuses on different issues, all of them are united by common interest to work for a better future.
Each member group has its own headquarters. In total, they employ around 20 full-time staff and cumulative membership of the network is more than 1,200 registered individuals. Common function at the level of the association is currently fulfilled by a coordinator of the association and a media coordinator.
